I just saw on TV that Tony Alamo’s compound has been raided by the FBI. Tony Alamo is one of the most rabidly anti catholic preachers in the United States. I wonder if he will blame the Catholic Church for this one. He likes to blame the Church for almost everything else. Allegations of child abuse as well as polygamy have been made towards his cult.
Let us all pray for the children that may have been effected.

I first heard about him in Carl Keatings book–Catholicism and Fundamentalism. I think he has a strong presence in California and Arkansas. Here is an article from 1990 from This Rock magazine about him.

Yesterday, FBI Special Agents arrested Bernie Hoffman, also known as Tony Alamo in Flagstaff, Arizona, for violating United States Code Title 18, Section 2423. This statute is defined as knowingly transporting a minor (under 18) across state lines with the intent to engage in sexual activity. If convicted of the alleged crime, Alamo could be imprisoned for 5 to 30 years.
I pray the veil will be removed from your eyes and you will accept Jesus as your personal savior. Mary did not die on the cross Jesus did.
Just think about this, what are you going to do when you stand before God in judgment. Do you want to stand there with doubt and sin on your soul hoping somebody maybe will feel sorry for you and light a candle to get you out of purgatory.
Or would you rather stand boldly knowing You are without sin, perfect just like Jesus because you have Him, You are His temple here on earth to live and work in you.
I used to go to catholic church, but it was awful, the nuns looked dead the priests mumbled words I couldn’t understand and in the confessional I made up anything to say just to get out of that creepy place.
I was lost in sin and on my way to hell. and NO catholic doctrine Ever helped me.
Only the gospel THE TRUTH of the Lord Jesus Christ who shed His blood for the forgiveness of my sins and when I repented and invited Jesus into my heart, I because a new person. I had power over sin. I was given the chance to start All over in life. My former sins were washed away and I was clean before God.

News Flash!
I have already accepted Jesus as my Savior! This is a teaching of the Catholic Church. The Church does not teach that Mary died for our sins on the cross but she did through her obedience bear God as man Jesus Christ. Through this act of obedience she did play a role in the salvation story and you should be saying thank you to her for that act and honor her as the Bible says she should be. The Bible says that she will be called blessed amongst all women.
You evidently did not understand any Catholic doctrine and for that I am sad. These doctrines are Biblically based. I am sad you were lost in sin. I am also afraid that you are being deceived by a man made religion of Tony Alamo.
The Catholic Churches and schools that I went to the nuns were alive and quite the characters.
I am not sure what Church you went to that mumbled words but the Catholic Churches that I have been to speak clearly the words commanded by Jesus Christ. They speak the words of the Gospel.
I listen to the message of the Church founded by Jesus Christ not the message of a con artist.

Your statement proves only one thing:that you never really understood the doctrines of the Church while you were a Catholic.I bet if you ask any Catholic who was the person that shed his blood for him/her for the remission of sins,that Catholic will tell you it is Jesus Christ.Even a two year old Catholic child that is always taken to mass on sunday,would point this fact out to you.After all it is clear depicted in the pictures[stations of the cross] and images[crucifix] he/she sees in the church every Sunday.Its sad a grown up like you never noticed all this.You also talk about THE TRUTH.I guess you are aware of the different and contradicting doctrines that exist within protestanism(some believe Jesus is God while some believe He isnt,some believe in Baptismal regeneration while some dont e.t.c).Is that what you call THE TRUTH?Do truth contradict truth?I will be praying for you anyway.With love from Africa.

Amen to your comment Aaron. Mr. Alamo is in need of all our prayers. I do believe his heart is hardened but you never know with the grace of God that could change.
Chaka, I agree that Until redemption does not understand the doctrines of the Church. I find it very hard to believe that they understood any doctrine as they blatantly admit that they lied to a priest during confession. If the person can’t tell a priest the truth are they sure in their hearts they are telling God the truth? I have attempted to contact the individual who posted the comment without any success so far. It is nice to see Catholics from other countries commenting on the blog.
