Here is a video I found on youtube that features Father Pfleger, who has been in the news recently for the controversial statements he made at Barack Obama’s Church. He is the most protestant Priest, in terms of his preaching style, that I have ever seen. Father Pfleger adheres to black liberation theology. He is also a personal friend of Mr. Obama.
Liberation theology has been condemned by the Church for quite some time. I am suprised that no one has tried to reign him in. I personally found his comments distasteful and regrettable.
Update 6-1-08: Barack Obama has quit his longtime Church- Trinity United Church of Christ. He doesn’t want the distraction, that his membership has created, to continue. The only thing that puzzles me is that this Church, more than likely, did not suddenly come up with this rethoric. Why does it take a Presidential election for Mr. Obama to renounce these teachings and this Church? In many ways this leads me to question the credibility of Mr. Obama regarding his true beliefs.
Father Pfleger I am told did good within his community, however, I believe he has to go!
