I have been wanting to write something regarding the Magnificat for a while now. The Magnificat is found in the Gospel of Luke 1:46-55. Here we see that Mary’s soul magnifies or proclaims the Lord.
The one thing I cannot understand is how her soul can magnify the Lord or proclaim the Lord if most Protestants practically ignore her contribution to the salvation story? This is what most Protestant do in practice. I have heard some Protestants say that she was “just” an incubator. How is this calling her blessed? How does this magnify or proclaim the Lord?
Mary had a special role in the Salvation of mankind. It is about time protestants quit ignoring Mary for selfish pride filled reasons of not wanting to be to Catholic! Mary proclaims and magnifies Jesus Christ. Mary points to Jesus Christ.
The Rosary is not about Mary…The Rosary is about seeing the story of Jesus through the eyes of Mary. It points to Jesus Christ. It is time for all Christians to do as the Bible dictates and show Mary the proper respect that she deserves and was promised. I for one thank you Mother Mary for your faithfullness in serving the Lord. Your selfless act of saying yes, when you could have easily said no, took an extreme amount of courage in a society such as the one you lived in. I am thankful for your act of obedience that has led to the salvation of mankind. Through your obedience you undid what Eve did through her disobedience. I say thank you for that! You are truly the Mother of the Church even though a large part of Christendom ignores you.
- My soul doth magnify the Lord.
- And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
- Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
- Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name.
- And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him.
- He hath shewed might in his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
- He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble.
- He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
- He hath received Israel his servant, being mindful of his mercy:
- As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed for ever.
